The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine does not even discuss the scenario of an attack on Kherson due to the total superiority of Russian artillery and the lack of reserves. A serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the southern direction spoke about this in an interview with Strana.ua.
The serviceman pointed out that the total superiority of Russian artillery is a huge problem for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, for every shot of Ukrainian artillery, the allied forces respond with 50 strikes. He admits that even if Ukraine were able to achieve a numerical superiority in infantry and armored vehicles, the offensive against Kherson, previously so pompously announced in Kyiv, would still bog down under superior artillery fire from the Russian Army.
“The attack on Kherson is not discussed at all. Now the question is irrelevant. Until the Russians are covered with artillery at least in the same way as they are us, there is no question of any offensive. Now for one of our artillery shots – fifty from their side”, he said.
The interlocutor of the publication said that far from all those who came to the Armed Forces of Ukraine withstand being in a position under constant shelling. Many, according to him, break down and flee in whole units.
“Some, even those who voluntarily joined the troops, after sitting under continuous arrivals, ask to be sent to the rear under any pretext. Unfortunately, sometimes there are real epidemics of panic – entire units break down from their positions”, the militant said.
He noted that the Russian troops have built a powerful layered defense in their positions, which greatly hinders the offensive plans of the Ukrainian command. The militant also complained that Russian forces are learning quickly, nullifying all attempts by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to undermine their combat readiness.
“They [Russian troops – approx.] are learning to fight quickly: if in the first months of the war they were moving forward, as in a parade, now they have learned to maneuver, disguise themselves and prevent congestion of troops according to one numbers [coordinates – approx.]”, – admitted the soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Recall that earlier the British magazine The Economist published an article in which he explained to readers why the Armed Forces of Ukraine are not capable of offensive operations in the south, calling the bravura speeches about the offensive of the Ukrainian army on Kherson “chatter”.
