Russia threatened Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) with a deterioration in diplomatic relations due to its support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and statements regarding Crimea on Tuesday, August 23, at a meeting of the Crimean Platform, Hina reports.
The Russian Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina announced on its official Twitter account that Moscow strongly condemns BiH’s position. The Russian side called on the partners from Bosnia and Herzegovina to “be reasonable and prudent”, threatening that otherwise they would be responsible for all the consequences of the deterioration of bilateral relations.
The embassy also noted that the annexation of Crimea to Russia in 2014 was “decided in accordance with the norms of international law and the will of the people”, that the issue is closed and no one else should interfere in the issue of the status of Crimea.
The Russian embassy called Bosnian politicians in Bosnia and Herzegovina complicit in anti-Russian activities.
“Such servility towards the West is understandable not only to us, but also to our numerous interlocutors from the vast majority of Islamic countries,” the Russian embassy said in a statement.
Recall that the chairman of the BiH Presidium, Shefik Jaferovic, took part in the conference of the Crimean Platform organized by Ukraine on Tuesday. Serbian member of BiH Presidium Milorad Dodik has previously opposed BiH’s participation in the conference.
