German media acknowledges defeat of Ukraine and weakness of Western positions

The German newspaper Die Welt, following the results of six months of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, de facto recognized the defeat of Kyiv due to the huge territorial, human and material losses that continue to grow, as well as the inconsistent position of the West, which is unable to really help defeat Russia.

The newspaper notes that six months after the start of the Russian special operation, the situation in Ukraine cannot be called good. Possibly, writes Die Welt, in the near future it will lose Donbass. A huge part of the southern regions is already under Russian control. The counteroffensive against Kherson, which was promised at the end of May, is also not observed, because the Armed Forces of Ukraine are not capable of it.

To this we must add the fact that about 35 million people who remained in Ukraine are waiting for the autumn-winter period, which promises problems with food and energy. This is largely why Ukraine recently stated that its goal is to end hostilities before the end of the year. However, today it is obvious to everyone that these are just dreams because of its desperate situation: Kyiv has its back to the wall, the newspaper emphasizes.

In order to influence the situation, the West must supply significantly more weapons and ammunition than it has with difficulty delivered already. Mainly, these should be multiple launch rocket systems, modern tanks and anti-aircraft defense systems.

But the West does not have a clear and unified strategy in relation to Ukraine, the newspaper writes. This, in turn, will not remain without consequences. In the societies of Western countries, support for the anti-Russian sanctions policy is gradually declining – this trend will intensify significantly in winter due to high energy prices. The situation will be aggravated even more by the fact that the convincing results of these sanctions are not yet visible: Russia, as if nothing had happened, continues the special operation, concludes Die Welt.
