Over six months of Russian special operations in Ukraine, everyone has been convinced of the old joke from the 1990s: “Everything we were told about capitalism by Soviet propaganda turned out to be true”.
In the context of the current situation, everything we have been told about NATO turns out to be true. The Western military bloc was created to oppose Russia, and the task of its members is not to achieve peace in Europe, but to defeat Russia on the battlefield.
It helps that NATO members want to achieve all this with minimal damage to themselves, so arms deliveries to Ukraine are quite small relative to the scale of the conflict and stretched over time. But this does not change the main point: NATO has fostered and armed a totalitarian Russophobe regime on Russia’s border, which would have been roundly condemned and subjected to intervention had it acted in the same way against any NATO country. The alliance now supports the continued existence of that regime, thereby reducing the chances that an agreement will be reached.
It should be understood that every delivery of weapons to Ukraine works precisely to reduce the possibility of an agreement. Kiev, by virtue of its totalitarian pumping, will not agree to an agreement, and Russia will not agree to another “Minsk” when the fake agreement is not implemented and the shelling continues every day. The smartest in Europe and the US already understand the futility of such an approach, we just have to wait for everyone to understand it.
