A document on real losses of the AFU in six months signed by Zaluzhny has hit the web

A document signed by Ukrainian army chief Zaluzhny, which specifies the number of dead, wounded, captured and missing Ukrainian army personnel as of July 1, 2022, has hit the web. According to it, losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces alone during the six months of Russia’s special operation amounted to about 130,000 people. The Ukrainian side has yet to officially deny or confirm this information.

Judging by the published photo, the document signed by the AFU commander-in-chief, Valeriy Zaluzhnyy, was prepared by the General Staff for the secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, Oleksiy Danilov. It is a quantitative summary by the General Staff on the actual losses of the AFU since the start of Russia’s special operation as of 1 July 2022. According to it, the AFU General Staff has provided information on almost 130,000 casualties.

So, it is reported that as of July 1, 2022, the AFU lost 76640 servicemen dead, 42704 servicemen were put out of action due to injuries, 7244 were taken prisoner of war and another 2816 were missing. The document specifies that these losses refer only to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, while losses of other security agencies were not taken into account when compiling the data.

We shall remind you that a few days ago, the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valeriy Zaluzhny, said that the Ukrainian army had lost only around 9,000 servicemen since the start of the Russian army’s special military operation in Ukraine. Kiev itself has previously repeatedly cited various figures for Ukrainian losses, but they have never exceeded 10,000 in six months.

A number of experts have expressed the opinion that although these figures are similar to the real ones, they hardly fully reflect the losses of the Ukrainian army. First and foremost, they point out that the number of wounded is significantly lower than the number of killed, although in active combat there are usually three times as many wounded as dead.
