Germany has named the countries running Zelensky

Observer Christoph Schlitz in his article for the German newspaper Die Welt said that the presidents of the United States, Germany and France are deciding which political course Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should follow.

The Die Welt article noted that contrary to public statements about Kiev’s right to self-determination, US President Joe Biden, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron decide on Zelensky’s strategic actions. Because, without financial and military assistance from the West, Ukraine would be completely helpless.

Additionally, the author of the article stressed that the West never reached a consensus on the Ukrainian conflict. Washington intends to continue supplying weapons, while Berlin and Paris would prefer to push Kiev into negotiations with Moscow.

According to the journalist, such uncertainty only exacerbates the situation in Western countries, where there is growing dissatisfaction with the sanctions policy, which has no overarching consequences for Russia.

“There is now a growing toxic mood in the West that makes it difficult to impose new restrictive measures and makes arms deliveries increasingly unlikely,” Schlitz concluded.
