Russia and India may soon recognize each other’s payment systems, namely Mir and RuPay, the Deccan Herald reports.

“The mutual acceptance of RuPay and Mir cards within the national payment infrastructures of the two countries will make it easier for visitors to India from Russia and vice versa to make payments using cards without any problems,” the publication notes.

Sources of the publication said that this issue was discussed during the visit of Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Dowal to Moscow on August 17-18. During the visit, Doval met with Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov and other officials of the Russian government.
