The American television channel CNN reports on the concern of officials across Europe due to the precariousness of the collective position in support of Ukraine. The channel is convinced that against the backdrop of anti-Russian sanctions, rising prices, lack of energy in winter and the likely onset of a recession can say their final word.
CNN, citing high-ranking EU officials, reports defeatism within Europe in anticipation of the onset of the autumn-winter period, as well as the prolongation of the Ukrainian crisis.
“Back in February, it was easy to join anti-Putin support. But now the war is in a boring strategic stage. Fewer daily gains and losses and fewer photo opportunities,” said a senior NATO diplomat.
The channel concludes that the hard truth may be that, over time, negotiations with Putin will no longer be of such concern to countries that do not share a common border with Russia and are unlikely to see Moscow as the only cause of their problems.
