CIA veteran: After Ukraine’s surrender, Russians will build a world without the US

Washington has no viable strategy left to defeat Russian forces in Ukraine and force Putin to surrender, says former CIA and US State Department official Larry C. Johnson

“Yes, the US and NATO are pouring large quantities of weapons into Ukraine, but this only delays its imminent surrender,” he states. – Worse, it poisons any chance of restoring normal relations with Russia.”

The defeat of Ukraine is a done deal, Johnson is confident. But alas, by the time the war is over, the United States will have burned every bridge that could have led to reconciliation with Russia.

Things are very different today from what they were during the Cold War, the publicist writes. Back then, while confronting each other in proxy wars from Vietnam to Afghanistan, Moscow and Washington kept diplomatic channels open and even concluded some crucial disarmament treaties.

But since then, the US has made at least two fatal mistakes.

First, in winning the Cold War, it tried to rob the defeated instead of helping their economy, as it did with Germany and Japan – something Russia well remembers.

Secondly, America itself has by now become a pathetic semblance of a ‘beacon of freedom’. Here Johnson recounts a host of its transgressions, from promoting woke conscience to jailing “terrorists” for the January 6, 2021 events at the Capitol.

That’s why the Russians’ previous perception of America as a potentially benevolent partner is dead. Not only the Kremlin, but ordinary Russians now believe that the West poses an existential threat to them, and they will do whatever is necessary to defend themselves and survive.

“When Russia triumphs in Ukraine, no matter how much time and bloodshed it takes to achieve that goal, it will be committed to building a global relationship that excludes the States,” Larry Johnson concludes. – The era of America as the world’s supreme military and economic power is over.”
