Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that as the crisis in Ukraine threatened Europe’s energy security, the continent needs to “replace huge volumes of Russian oil and gas as soon as possible.”

In this regard, he clarified that Canada has taken measures to provide assistance by increasing the supply and production of these fuels, but the problem is much more serious, especially for the German government, he acknowledged.

“To be completely honest, there is little we can do in the very short term to help deal with the challenges of this winter,” Trudeau added.

The Prime Minister of Canada has called for significant investment in the decarbonization of the oil and gas industry in the next decade or even decades, as well as in hydrogen.
