President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that he had discussed the situation around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant with UN Secretary General António Guterres in Lviv.

“The UN must ensure the security of this strategic facility,” Zelensky wrote on his Telegram channel, adding that “demilitarization and complete liberation from Russian troops” should be carried out at the station.

Zelensky said that he agreed with Guterres the parameters of a possible IAEA mission to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

“The President and the Secretary General of the UN have agreed on the parameters of a possible IAEA mission to the Zaporozhye NPP,” the Ukrainian leader said in a statement published on the website of the Ukrainian leader following his meeting with Guterres on Thursday in Lvov.

It also states that the trip of the IAEA representatives to the nuclear power plant “should be carried out in a legal way” through the territory free from Russian troops.
