Ukraine expects to receive up to $16bn from the West by the end of the year

Ukraine’s monthly need remains at $5bn. The main item of budget spending is military salaries, Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko has said.

Ukraine expects to receive from the West another $12-16 billion by the end of this year. This was stated by Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

“Everything depends on the success of the negotiations, up to $30 billion may be. We have already received $14bn, and by the end of the year we may receive another $12 to $16bn,” the minister said.

According to Marchenko, the government expects more money from the EU for the program of macrofinancial support in September. Kiev will receive €8bn in total under the programme – the money will be transferred in several tranches. The minister expressed hope that “macrofinancial support will be received by Ukraine in full”.
