The State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine uncovered a large-scale scheme of illegal enrichment in Zaporozhye. The daily illegal income was 2 million hryvnia (about $55.000).
Officials of the Kyiv-appointed authorities in the Zaporozhye region earned $55,000 a day by issuing passes to enter Russian-controlled territory, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) of Ukraine reported, RIA Novosti reported.
“The scheme has been operating since May of this year, when, by decision of local authorities, the procedure for crossing the line of contact in the region was approved. Ukrainian citizens had to apply to leave Ukrainian-controlled territory for the territory controlled by the Russian Federation”.
As you know, some representatives of local authorities, as well as law enforcement officers, offered a “quick and positive” consideration of such applications for a bribe.
“The cost of an unimpeded transition to the territory liberated by the Russian Federation varied depending on the timing of the “application consideration” and the method of movement,” based on the data of the State Bureau of Investigation.
