On Friday morning, four German vacationers were driving through the city center when another car crashed into their car, which drove into the oncoming lane.

As soon as the driver of the crashed car saw the police, he abruptly stepped on the gas and left the scene at high speed. At the same time, eyewitnesses claim that another person got behind the wheel before that.
“A chase began in the center of Vienna, as a result of which the offenders were still overtaken. The policemen stopped the car and, with pistols at the ready, demanded that the three passengers get out of it. <…> Those with great reluctance obeyed, which is not surprising, since it became known from insider circles that these people were high-ranking diplomats of the Ukrainian embassy”, the newspaper writes.
The 39-year-old driver refused an alcohol test, and the 33-year-old passenger, who, according to witnesses, was driving initially, agreed to be tested using a breathalyzer. The result was 2.32 ppm.
“If the Ukrainian embassy in Vienna does not deprive suspects of diplomatic immunity, drunken rampage will remain legally unpunished,” the author of the article sums up the story.
