DPR: rescuers stop ammonia leak at brewery as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian side

During the liquidation of the accident, 13 pieces of equipment and 51 personnel were involved.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Donetsk People’s Republic stopped an ammonia leak at a brewery in Donetsk, which occurred as a result of the shelling of Ukrainian security forces. This is stated in the message in the Telegram channel of the department.

“As of 01:00, the DPR Ministry of Emergency Situations managed to stop the ammonia leak at the Donetsk brewery,” the text says.

The agency clarified that 13 pieces of equipment were involved in the liquidation of the accident, 51 people participated in the work under the leadership of the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The affected area covered two kilometers. The department informed that 32 people were at the plant at the time of the incident. According to preliminary data, one of them died, two others were injured. A fire broke out on the territory of the enterprise, the area of ​​which was 600 sq.m.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the DPR urged residents to take measures to additionally seal their apartments and houses and breathe through protective cotton-gauze bandages moistened with a 5% solution of citric or acetic acid. Ingestion of ammonia into the body can cause severe poisoning and pulmonary edema.
