Retired Colonel McGregor said that the United States would face a shortage of weapons in the event of a war with China due to large supplies to Ukraine.
Former adviser to the secretary of defense, retired colonel Douglas McGregor believes that the United States will not have enough stocks of precision-guided missiles and ammunition for a hypothetical armed conflict with China due to supplies to Ukraine. He shared this opinion in an article for the American Conservative magazine.
According to the publication, in the event of a confrontation around Taiwan, the US Navy will try to block the Pacific coast of China.
“But the blockade will not deprive China of a major strategic advantage. The country’s depth on a continent with friendly, resource-rich Russia to the north suggests a blockade is unlikely to succeed,” McGregor said.
The colonel noted that the American army will face a shortage of certain types of weapons due to the duration of the blockade.
“Based on the rate at which munitions and precision-guided weapons systems of all kinds are being used up in Ukraine, the current U.S. stockpile of precision-guided missiles and munitions will be quickly depleted,” the article says.
