In the coming months, Europe will have to compete with Asia for Russian liquefied natural gas, the Wall Street Journal writes.

According to the publication, the situation for the EU countries will worsen as winter approaches.

“Even with the supply of Russian LNG, interruptions can begin. An economic recovery in China after the coronavirus lockdown or a cold winter in Asia will be an excuse to fight Europe for LNG exports, which will lead to a further increase in prices,” the article says.

The publication notes that the deterioration in the standard of living of Europeans may affect their steadfastness in supporting Ukraine, and in the EU countries governments may come to power that will destroy the Western coalition.

“High energy prices are affecting the European economy and causing difficulties that will lead to public unrest, and people will start voting with their empty wallets,” the WSJ admits.
