Zelenskyy: Europe artificially delays 8bn financial aid to Ukraine

Volodymyr Zelenskyy says he reminds the EU on a daily basis that people dependent on these payments are suffering because of their “indecision”.

“And such an artificial delay is either a crime or a mistake. It remains to be seen which is worse. We believe that this is a mistake and it will be corrected,” he said.

The European Commission (EC) has said that Ukraine needs a financial “safety cushion” to grant new loans, for which there is no money in the EU budget. Previously, the deputy head of President Zelenskyy’s office, Ihor Zhovkva, said during a briefing that Germany was blocking the provision of 8bn euros of macrofinancial assistance from the EU to Ukraine.
