The British edition of The Guardian, citing a study by the National Institute for Economic and Social Research in Britain (NIESR), writes about an economic disaster amid anti-Russian sanctions that will affect the UK economy.
A prolonged recession will affect millions of the most vulnerable households, especially in the most disadvantaged parts of the country.
According to a study by the British NIESR, the retail price index (RPI) will reach a record 17.7% by the end of 2022 due to rising gas and food prices. In this regard, the income of British citizens will fall significantly. The consequence will be the use of savings to pay for key heating and food costs this winter. The number of households without savings is reported to double by 2024.
