Reuters reports on the plans of the European Union to raise a new financial assistance package of €8 billion for Ukraine.
Reuters, citing a source in the German government, says that part of the new aid package may consist of grants, and the other part of loans.
Earlier, the European Commission announced the transfer of only €1 billion to Ukraine as macro-financial loan assistance, specifying that the transfer of the remaining €8 billion is temporarily impossible, because due to the unreliability of Ukraine, to allocate such funds, at least 70% financial cushion is needed, but the EU’s budget does not possess it. It could be the obligations of the EU member states, but at that time the European Commission did not have them either.
