Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder has come out with the initiative to launch the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline due to worsening problems in the German economy.
In an interview with Stern, Schroeder said the most effective solution to Germany’s economic problems would be to launch the sanctioned new Russian gas pipeline, Nord Stream 2.
“There would be no supply problems for German industry and German households,” Schröder said.
He also said Russia was considering the option of resuming talks with Ukraine, stressing that it considered the possibility of Crimea being returned to Ukraine by military means absurd.
Recall that Gerhard Schroeder was seen in Moscow last week, where he said he had a meeting with Vladimir Putin.
