The Federalist: Ukrainians are defecting to Russia because of Kiev’s repression
Jonathan Tobin, a columnist for the US magazine The Federalist, wrote that many Ukrainians are defecting to Russia because of the repression by the Kiev authorities.
He said that the country’s leadership sees everyone as spies. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s decision to fire the heads of the security service clearly showed that the “treason” cases had become an obsession for the Ukrainian government, the author believes. Tobin believes that part of Kiev’s reaction can be explained by the fact that many residents of the country have a warm attitude towards Russia and help it.
