Global Times: Pelosi plane may land in Taiwan under some pretext

China’s Global Times reports that a plane with U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi may attempt to land in Taiwan.

A technical problem or refueling necessity could be a reason for the plane, carrying the American delegation on board, to land on the island, the Global Times said. The newspaper points out that such a move is extremely risky, as the Chinese side has repeatedly warned.

“Chinese military patrols, radars, as well as the forces involved in the exercise should be on high alert in the coming days,” the Global Times writes.

Recall that the authorities of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) had earlier stated in an ultimatum that they regard the possible visit of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan as an act of aggression against the principle of a united China. If an attempt is made to land on the island, the aircraft will be shot down, the Chinese side warned the US.
