Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the decision of the “authorities” in Pristina to start applying unreasonable discriminatory “rules” on the forced replacement of personal documents and registration numbers of local Serbs from August 1 is another step towards the expulsion of the Serbian population from Kosovo, the expulsion of Kosovo Serb institutions from there that ensure protection of the rights of Serbian residents from the arbitrariness of the Pristina radicals, headed by the “premier” A. Kurti.

According to Zakharova, Kosovar leaders know that the Serbs will not remain indifferent when it comes to a direct attack on their freedoms, and they deliberately escalate in order to launch a military scenario. Of course, she said, Belgrade is also at the forefront of the attack, which the West wants to additionally “neutralize” with Koso-Albanian hands.

“We call on Pristina and the US and EU behind it to stop provocations and respect the rights of Serbs in Kosovo. <…> Such a development of events is another evidence of the failure of the mediation mission of the European Union. This is also an example of what place was prepared for Belgrade in the European Union, offering Belgrade de facto to put up with the lack of rights of its compatriots,” Zakharova concluded.
