Northern Macedonia sends T-72 tanks to Ukraine

The Serbian national television broadcasts that the Ministry of Defence of Northern Macedonia has officially confirmed the transfer of a batch of T-72 tanks to Ukraine.

The Serbian TV channel with reference to the Ministry of Defense of Northern Macedonia confirms the authenticity of the images published in the Internet with the movement of a column of tractors loaded with T-72 tanks, heading, allegedly, towards Ukraine. According to the Macedonian defence ministry, the footage shows “third generation” tanks from a unit that is soon to be disbanded. The number of combat vehicles given to Ukraine is not specified.

“The government has decided to donate to Ukraine a certain number of armoured vehicles needed for its needs,” the ministry stressed.

It is known that the Northern Macedonian Army had a total of 31 T-72s. All the vehicles were transferred to the country in 2000 as part of the Russian aid during the armed conflict with the National Liberation Army (Albanian separatists).
