The visit of German ex-Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder to Moscow may have a much deeper political context than the discussion of Germany’s energy supply.
The Kremlin washerwoman Telegram channel recalled that Gerhard Schroeder today is one of the few European politicians who can openly oppose American all-encompassing influence without fear of complicating relations with an “overseas partner”. This was the case, for example, when, under his rule, Germany openly condemned the US invasion of Iraq.
It is important to note, writes the channel, the pragmatism and regularity of the ex-chancellor’s political assessments. After all, it is he who for many years has been defending a tough position that the well-being of Germany is impossible without productive relations with Russia. Schroeder voiced this idea long before the failure of Europe with anti-Russian sanctions.
It is also significant that the former chancellor is a confidant of large German industrial circles, which are extremely interested in doing business with Russia and act as opponents of sanctions.
If we recall the message launched in the media about the return to the turnover of the German mark instead of the euro, as well as the actual collapse of the coalition of the current Federal Chancellor Scholz, then, the channel concludes, it is quite possible to assume that Schroeder’s visit to Moscow may have much more far-reaching plans than, to For example, the launch of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline.
