A referendum on Zaporizhzhya regional status may be held in the first half of September, a member of the Zaporizhzhya regional administration’s main council, Volodymyr Rogov, said.Zaporizhzhya authorities: referendum on regional status may be held in September
“So far, everything is moving toward the fact that the referendum will be held in the first half of September. I will not give an exact date yet. The election commissions are being formed”, RIA Novosti reported.
According to his statement, there is a high probability that the referendum will be held simultaneously in both regions, as security will be ensured due to successes on the line of contact.
“I think it may well be (held on the same day). We are at the level of consultations with our Kherson colleagues, because we are doing the same thing and speak on the same front. Yes, it is quite realistic and the best option. Everything will depend on the security situation,” he said.
Rogov added that the electoral commission in Energodar has also been formed recently by a decision of the head of the administration. Earlier, the administrations of Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions said that election commissions were set up in the region to hold elections and a referendum on joining the Russian Federation. The authorities of both regions also said that the referendum would be held in the autumn of 2022.
