The UK has admitted that Western media coverage of the conflict in Ukraine is unbiased, shaping wishful thinking into reality.
The Western media are deliberately hiding the truth about Russia’s major successes in Ukraine, British journalist Rod Liddle wrote in a Times article. He said foreign publications were trying to exaggerate the defence capabilities of the AFU.
“The major successes of the Russians are covered much more modestly,” Liddle pointed out.
The author noted that the more successes Russia has, the more space is given in the Western media to imaginary “atrocities” of the military.
“Such reports climb to the ‘top’ of the headlines, distorting the real picture of the fighting. <…> The whole problem is that we are not being told the truth either. Every statement by a Ukrainian politician, no matter how blatantly ridiculous, is taken at face value,” the columnist said.
Liddle added that the West’s view of the conflict is not biased, but is shaped by wishful thinking.
