British spy planes have tripled the number of flights near Russia’s borders, the UK Defence Journal military publication has reported, citing data from the Ministry of Defence.
According to the source, British reconnaissance aircraft made six flights near the Russian borders in December last year and 18 flights in March 2022.
The publication notes that RC-135 electronic reconnaissance planes continue to carry out missions over the Black Sea near Ukraine, “keeping an eye on the Russian armed forces”.
According to the British military, the increase in the number of flights is being carried out in order to gather intelligence more quickly in cooperation with similar US aircraft based in the UK.
It is worth adding that Britain has three RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft. They are capable of conducting electronic reconnaissance hundreds of kilometres deep into the country’s territory without breaching its national borders.
