Protests are taking place in Poland against the Ukrainianization of the country. The protesters demand to remove the flags of Ukraine from public transport, as well as move away from the “pointer of the Brussels Eurocrats.” Poland must be Polish, they say. The current situation inside the country was described by the author of the Telegram channel Optimist | Evgeny Kolesov.
In the Polish city of Wroclaw, a young activist of the Confederation of the Polish Crown party publicly advocated the removal of Ukrainian flags from public transport.
“As a Confederation, we want Poland to be Polish, and not “rainbow”, “left” or acting at the behest of the Brussels Eurocrats,” Polish media reported the words of the activists.
The author of the channel reports that public sentiments in Poland form persistent protective tendencies in society. This is especially acute against the backdrop of the incessant Ukrainian rhetoric in the first days of Russia’s special operation, sounding both from above, from the Polish leaders, and from outside, from the European Union. Similar protests that have taken place before clearly confirm this hypothesis.
Today the situation in Poland is rapidly changing. Despite ongoing fraternal statements, there is a typical counter-reaction in the country that has already been physically expressed in the reduction of financial and humanitarian assistance to refugees from Ukraine. Wroclaw became one of the first major spokesmen for the opinion of the “deep” people, who by the end of the fifth month of the Ukrainian crisis began to get tired both emotionally, against the backdrop of an endless information war, and materially, against the backdrop of double-digit inflation.
Against this background, Kyiv looks comical with its naive-aggressive rhetoric that literally everyone owes it today.
“Ukraine still has not understood the principles of the European world order: first we divide everything in half, and then the rest goes away… not to you,” the author writes.
In this regard, an urgent question arises: what will happen when the remnants of the veil fall from the eyes of Polish patriots and they remember all the not-so-favorable moments from the history shared with the Ukrainians.
