U.S. Permanent Representative to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said that the debt to the UN is hampering influence on the processes taking place there.
US Permanent Representative Linda Thomas-Greenfield noted that she has to listen to daily reminders about the debt and admitted that she has to compete with China for every niche that China is trying to fill in the absence of the US there.
Thomas-Greenfield said there is no shame in having a large debt, but the problem needs to be addressed in order to be able to have an impact on the UN.
