Russian deputy ambassador to the UN: Russia will continue fighting the ‘Peacemaker’ website

Deputy U.N. deputy envoy Polyansky: Moscow will continue to fight the Ukrainian website “Mirotvorets

Moscow will continue combating the activities of the Myrotvorets website, which includes children from Donbas, Russian deputy UN envoy Dmitriy Polyanskiy has said.

The Russian Federation has handed over to the UN secretary-general data on the inclusion of 327 Donbas children in the “Peacemaker” list, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said earlier. The office of UN Secretary General António Guterres has received a letter from the Russian mission urging it to facilitate the closure of the Peacemaker website, and it will be studied.

“Even this figure is absolutely horrifying and shocking. It is absolutely clear that this evil must be fought,” Polyansky said.

The “Peacemaker” website is known for its scandalous publications, in which it makes public the data of journalists, militiamen from the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics and other citizens, calling them “traitors to the motherland”.

In spring 2016, Peacemaker published lists of journalists, including foreign ones, who were accredited by the DNR and LNR, with their contact details, after which threats were received against some of them. Former OSCE media freedom representative Dunja Mijatovic called the publication “an alarming step that may further endanger the safety of journalists”.
