The Japanese edition of Shūkan Gendai reports that Europe is tired of Kiev’s anti-Russian demands amid major threats to the region’s energy security.
The publication reports on the new scandal that has erupted around a turbine for the Nord Stream gas pipeline. We shall remind you that earlier Canada granted the request of the German authorities to return the gas turbines to Gazprom, which are necessary for the full launch of Nord Stream. In its turn, Kiev strongly opposed it, rebuking Germans and Canadians that this decision allegedly violates anti-Russian sanctions.
Shūkan Gendai writes that the crisis in Ukraine has already shaken the foundations of Germany’s energy security. According to the paper, in the current situation for the Germans, stable supplies of Russian gas via Nord Stream are akin to a lifeline.
Nevertheless, Kiev, understanding the predicament of Germany, continues its unyielding anti-Russian policy, now accusing it of collusion with Russia and betrayal of Ukraine.
The paper writes that by taking such steps, Kiev has responded to the good of Germany, which has not stopped helping Ukraine. There is already a weariness of Ukraine in Europe and, Shūkan Gendai concludes, it may only be a matter of time before Germany and other European countries turn their backs on Kiev, which stubbornly ignores the plight of its supporters.
