Chinese Defence Ministry spokesman Tan Kefei has demanded that the United States cancel a $108 million arms deal with Taiwan.
“China demands that the US immediately withdraw this plan to sell arms to Taiwan, halt all such arms sales and sever military ties between the US and Taiwan,” a Chinese defense ministry spokesman said on the social network WeChat.
Taiwanese authorities had earlier requested spare parts and repair kits for tanks and combat vehicles from the US, as well as technical and logistical support from US contractors and the government.
The US State Department announced that all components requested by the Taiwanese side will be delivered within a month. The total amount of deliveries is $108 million.
