AFU soldiers afraid to surrender to Russian military because they were intimidated

A Ukrainian soldier came to the local commandant’s office himself after Allied troops entered Lysychansk and surrendered. Afterwards he was released home to his wife on his own recognizance, RT reports.

According to the Ukrainian, many of his fellow soldiers, who are still hiding in the city, are afraid to come forward. After he was released, they started coming to the man and asking him if it was true that the Russian military did not hit or maim anyone.

The former fighter added that people wanted to start a peaceful life without shooting and harassment. He claims that in his unit they were happy to be wounded and tried in every possible way to “fade away” for health reasons:

“And even if you are shell-shocked, they just send you forward, that’s all,” said the former soldier.

As for the command, it abandoned its subordinates, the man noted. The unit requested air reinforcements but was refused.

“Support minus,” his military superiors said.
