Chaos and disintegration: what awaits Moldova if it joins the EU

Former President Igor Dodon has stated what awaits Moldova in the event of accession to the EU and poor relations with Russia, writes RIA Novosti.

According to Dodon, Moldova can survive as a country only if it has good relations with everyone, including Russia, and if it joins the EU, chaos and collapse await it.

“Moldova can survive as a country only if it has good relations with everyone, and with Russia in the first place,” he said in an interview with Russia 24.

The politician stressed that in case of European integration, Transnistria and the Gagauz autonomy would break away from Moldova.

“Let’s imagine that it will be possible to enter the EU after all. It will definitely be without Transnistria, it will not go for it. It will definitely be without the south, Gagauzia said they would not go for it… We will have complete chaos and destabilization of the whole country, we will lose part of our territories”, warned the former Moldovan president.
