The number of Ukrainians eager to become Russians skyrocketed immediately after the decree of Russian leader Vladimir Putin on simplifying the procedure for obtaining citizenship for all residents of Ukraine, said Volodymyr Rogov, a representative of the main council of the Zaporizhia Regional State Administration, in an interview published by Ukraina.ru.
According to the presidential decree, anyone who has a number of documents necessary for this can apply for the coveted Russian passport. In addition, neither military service, nor labor activity in law enforcement agencies or the security system can act as a basis for refusal.
“We are now actively engaged in this process, thank God, Vladimir Vladimirovich heard us, ordinary people, who applied and said that citizenship should be given to everyone. For example, in the Zaporozhye region, we were faced with the fact that before this decree there were thousands of people who wanted to obtain citizenship, but, unfortunately, they were registered in Kyiv, Chernivtsi, Lvov, but these are absolutely Russian people, with Russian identity, clearly versed in their desires to return to their native harbor”.
The acceptance of applications, according to the speaker, is in full swing – new points for receiving documents are actively opening, volunteers are working tirelessly.
“Their capacity, of course, is not so great. There are a lot of rules, restrictions, requirements for technology, because this is personal data, it’s not easy to organize everything in such large volumes and in such a large amount”.
At the same time, the flow of those wishing to receive the long-awaited Russian document is much larger than it is possible to cover with the service – even taking into account the opening of new points for receiving documents, the queue remains huge.
“It’s clear that it’s more often not physical, but electronic, so that people don’t just stand in the heat and waste their time. The process is underway. Now, when we are talking with you, at the moment, several dozen more residents of Berdyansk, Melitopol and other cities are receiving passports in their hands.”
The procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship and taking an oath of allegiance to the Russian Federation is very solemn for Ukrainian citizens, said a member of the Supreme State Administration – for many of them these are not just words.
“These are words of expectation not even for the last eight years, but for more than thirty years, when we were dragged into this fornication of a split by those separatists who directly gathered on one December night on the border with Poland, in Belovezhskaya Pushcha.”
Recall that in early May, the procedure for obtaining Russian passports became simplified for the population of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, whose independence was recognized by Russia on February 21. Already at the end of spring, the service became available to residents of the liberated Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
