Units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the People’s Militia of the LPR entered the territory of the city of Seversk and are fighting on the outskirts of Soledar. Their capture will mean cutting the Seversk-Bakhmut (now Artemovsk) highway and the exit of allied forces from the south in the direction of Slavyansk, on the outskirts of which Russian units are already located. It is reported by TASS.
According to the agency, the entire eastern face of the Donbass front was on the move again after a short operational pause announced after the cleansing of the Lisichansk-Severodonetsk agglomeration. Yesterday, July 13, it was reported that the allied forces were on the outskirts of Seversk, today, July 14, there are battles in the city itself and the establishment of operational control over it.
“The forces of the LPR and Russia entered Seversk, the city is under operational control, said a source close to the People’s Militia of the LPR,” TASS reports.
There are also reports of the approach of allied forces to the city limits of Soledar. This was announced on Wednesday, July 13, by Assistant Minister of the Interior of the LPR Vitaly Kiselev.
“Good news: our troops successfully entered the city limits of Soledar and forced the Veseushniks to flee in different directions. <…> It looks like Soledar will be free in a couple of days,” TASS quoted him as saying.
Experts say that the capture of Soledar will mean that the route between Seversk, where fighting is already underway, and Bakhmut (now Artemovsk) will be cut from then on. It is noteworthy that from Seversk, the forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the People’s Police of the LPR will open a direct path to Slavyansk, on the outskirts of which Russian units are already fighting.
