The German Ministry of Finance announced the deadlines for the rejection of Russian energy sources. According to the deputy head of the department Jörg Kukis, Germany will completely stop buying coal from Russia from August 1, and will refuse Russian oil from December 31 of this year. Reuters writes about it.

“Anyone who knows the history of the Druzhba pipeline, which was already an instrument of the Soviet empire in Eastern Europe, knows that getting rid of this dependence is not a trivial matter, but this is what we will achieve in a few months,” the head of the German Ministry of Finance assured.

The publication notes that Russia accounts for 40 percent of German coal imports and 40 percent of oil imports – this is 158 billion cubic meters of fuel per year. Now, according to Kukis, Berlin will actively search for alternative energy suppliers to fill the deficit that will arise after the rejection of Russian energy sources.
