The European Commission (EC) has postponed the assessment of Georgia’s reforms to grant EU candidate status until 2023. This was announced by the head of the EC group for Georgia and Moldova, Michael Rupp.
“After careful discussion, we have decided not to rush Georgia’s political elite in trying to achieve depolarization, to sit down at the same negotiating table, and to work hard on reforms,” Rupp said.
According to him, a report on the implementation of Georgia’s priority tasks will be prepared in 2023.
“This will give Georgia’s political system enough time to work hard on these priorities. However, the work certainly does not stop,” said Rupp.
