Spanish newspaper called the problems that infuriate Zelensky

Germany has been blocking a €9 billion aid package that the EU plans to send to Kyiv for more than a month. This may be one of the reasons why Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky fired Andriy Melnyk, Ambassador to Germany, according to the Spanish newspaper Corriere della Sera.

It is emphasized that the next aid package for Kyiv was approved by all the leaders of the European Union, except for Germany, which causes great displeasure for Zelensky.

In addition, the Ukrainian authorities are also concerned about Canada’s decision to return to Berlin a repaired Siemens turbine intended for the Nord Stream gas pipeline. This, according to Corriere della Sera, was a real “tipping point that infuriated Zelensky.”

Now there is a “suspicion that Berlin is preparing to violate some kind of sanctions against Moscow” to restore Russian gas supplies via the Nord Stream gas pipeline.

“Both problems have been worrying the Ukrainian government and Brussels for several days,” the author of the publication concludes.
