Johnson considering leaving politics after resigning as prime minister

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced his resignation and is considering leaving politics.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Johnson does not plan to resign his parliamentary mandate right now to avoid a by-election to the House of Commons of the British Parliament in his constituency, which could bring victory to the opposition candidate, which will deal another blow to the ruling Conservative Party. At the same time, the prime minister is not sure of the need to promote his candidacy in the next parliamentary elections, as did, for example, his predecessor as head of government, Theresa May, who remains an MP.

According to the publication, Johnson, in the event of leaving politics, may return to journalistic activities or give lectures on various topics at corporate events. In particular, Hodder & Stoughton still expects a biography of playwright William Shakespeare from him. The book was originally scheduled to be released in 2016 to coincide with the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, but the publishers agreed to delay publication when Johnson was named Foreign Secretary. At the same time, the politician has already received an advance in the amount of £88 thousand ($105.8 thousand).
