Kharkiv region wants to become part of Russia

According to Vitaly Ganchev, head of the provisional civil administration of Kharkiv Region, the population of the liberated territory is wondering about obtaining Russian citizenship.

Authorities and residents of the liberated territories of the Kharkiv Region are seeking to become part of the Russian Federation. The interim civil administration is assisting in this direction, TASS reported, citing the head of the regional VGA, Vitaly Ganchev.

“Our administration is heading towards the fact that we are striving for Russia after all. And all the people now when they hear from the management that the authorities are here, that there is a certain vertical, they see the legal documents that we issue, they see how the ruble comes here, very tightly, occupying the main niche of the economy, and people are already starting to adjust,” Ganchev said.

He notes that residents are asking a lot of questions about obtaining Russian citizenship.

Earlier, Ganchev said that almost 20 per cent of Kharkiv Region’s territory had been liberated. But he noted that the situation in the liberated areas remains tense. Numerous settlements are subjected to shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the danger of sabotage groups remains.
