The governor of the Kaliningrad region, Anton Alikhanov, said that Russia’s measures in response to the sanctions could lead to the actual destruction of the transport complex of the Baltic states. He stated this in an interview with Vedomosti.
“The transport complex of the Baltics, in principle, can be destroyed if Russia applies anti-sanctions against goods that go in the direction of the Baltics and from it,” the governor said.
In his opinion, Russia’s economic response can be compared to a “neutron weapon”. He stated that Vilnius probably does not realize that Kaliningrad is part of Russia and, if necessary, it could happen that “half of the Lithuanian economy” will cease to exist.
