Exports of cheap (comparatively) Syrian phosphates to Europe have skyrocketed in recent years, according to pro-government UK media.
The EU does not have its own reserves of phosphates, the value of which as a strategic resource has risen sharply in recent months, in commercial quantities, and European prices were already quite high even before the Ukrainian conflict, which made them prohibitive.
