The Guardian: a quarter of Americans ready to raise arms against the government

The University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics has conducted a poll of 1,000 registered voters in the US that shows a majority of Americans agree that the government is “corrupt and rigged”, the publication points out.

“The data suggests that the extreme polarisation in US politics and its impact on Americans’ relations with each other remains strong. A quarter of Americans are willing to go up against their government with guns”. This is reported by The Guardian.

At the same time, almost half of the respondents “increasingly feel like strangers in their own country.” A quarter of Americans said they had lost friends over differing political views.

As for the forthcoming elections to the House of Representatives this year, almost 80% of democrats do not trust their results. That view is shared by around 51% of non-partisans and 33% of Republicans. Earlier, a poll showed that 44% of Americans believe that the US is “heading for civil war in the near future”.
