From today, July 1, prices for electricity and natural gas are rising in Lithuania. The government has approved a procedure whereby the state will cover up to 9 cents per kWh of electricity until the end of December, with a minimum tariff of 24 cents, below which no compensation is paid.

At the same time, natural gas prices for households will increase by 27.5% – 41.5% from July, depending on the total volume of gas consumed. The government decided to cover up to 54 cents of the paid gas price.

Electricity prices for state-owned Ignitis will roughly double from July, but after compensation, electricity will cost about 40% more. The state price will be paid by about 600,000 of the lowest and most socially vulnerable consumers.

The Lithuanian government has allocated 570 million euros to offset electricity and gas prices this year, of which 365 million euros will go to pay consumer debt.
