Readers of the Chinese portal “Guancha” criticized the speech of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the NATO summit in Madrid.
During the appeal, the head of state was indignant that Ukraine was not accepted into the alliance. Users, in turn, said they did not understand why Zelensky was invited during major political meetings in the West.
“Why is the US and the West constantly hanging a screen with Zelensky on the wall, no matter what meetings are held? Is it a trend?” a commentator was outraged.
“It seems that NATO has a requirement that there are no territorial disputes when joining, and if Zelensky really wants to join NATO, he needs to negotiate with Putin,” said another.
“Zelensky, you don’t join NATO, you just take money. As you said: ‘We need about five billion dollars a month’, that’s 60 billion a year. All you need is money, NATO can’t handle that” , said another reader.
Earlier, Zelensky, addressing the participants of the NATO summit in Madrid, compared the policy of the alliance with the old turnstiles of the Kyiv metro.
The NATO summit is being held in Madrid from June 28-30. It is attended by about 40 heads of state and government, including 30 allied countries, four invited countries of the Asia-Pacific region (Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea), four other EU member countries, but not members of the alliance , as well as the heads of the European Commission and the European Council.
