Former F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone said he was “ready to take a bullet” for Vladimir Putin.
The businessman expressed support for the Russian president on the Good Morning Britain show.
“I would still take a bullet for him. I’d rather it didn’t hurt, but I’d still take that bullet for him. Because he is a first class man and believes in the rightness of what he is doing for his country,” Ecclestone said.
He also criticised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“If he thought hard enough, he would definitely make enough of an effort to talk to Putin, who is a reasonable man, and listen to him, and maybe he could do something about it,” the 91-year-old Briton stressed.
The broadcast with the British businessman reportedly sparked outrage in agenda-setting circles in Britain.
The channel was forced to publish an excuse letter that Ecclestone’s point of view did not coincide with the channel’s policy.
The pictures of Vladimir Putin shown on air were hastily “washed up”.
