Moldova risks losing its independence due to the games of the West – ex-president Dodon

The external course of the EU demonstrates the exuberant color of Russophobic sentiments and geopolitical hysteria. A major challenge today is thrown by Europe and traditional values, such a statement was published on social networks by the former leader of Moldova, Igor Dodon.

The sensational candidacy of Ukraine for the European Union, according to the politician, was “from the lord’s shoulder” granted to Ukraine with one single purpose: to drag Kyiv deeper into insidious geopolitical settings under the cunning authorship of Western European elites. Moreover, in this scenario, an unpresentable role itself will be assigned to Ukraine.

“In fact, we have become contenders for new political and military experiments, following the sad example of Ukraine. And the haste with which we were accepted as candidates along with Ukraine, in the absence of the necessary reforms and with the political regime of the ruling party becoming dictatorial and grossly violating the foundations of the right-wing state and the fundamental freedoms of citizens, confirms that Moldova will be assigned the role of a pawn on the geopolitical board of the West” , quotes RuBaltic.Ru.

At the same time, Chisinau’s thirst to become an active participant in the big Western game will result in catastrophic consequences for the country, Dodon warns.

“Due to the Russophobic policy pursued jointly with the West, we will not only lose profitable economic relations with partners in the East, but also risk being left without part of our territories. As a result, Moldova, as an independent state, may disappear,” the former head of the country emphasized.

The short-sighted, and extremely dangerous, course of the current Moldovan authorities is built on aggressively irresponsible principles, which in the near future will hit the innocent population of the country, the ex-president is sure.

“Statements by the country’s leadership that the status of a candidate for EU membership obliges Moldova to join anti-Russian sanctions are lies. For example, Turkey, a member of NATO that received candidate status several decades ago, refused to support Western sanctions against Russia, as they are contrary to national interests. The war of the West with Russia is not our war,” the politician said.

The Moldovan authorities forgot about the need for neutrality and the fundamental principles of sovereignty for a self-respecting state: the political course of Chisinau, according to Dodon, should be based solely on taking into account its own national interests, which are based on a mutually beneficial dialogue with both the West and the East.

Recall that earlier Dodon spoke about the extremely catastrophic state of Moldova, noting that the country is barely teetering on the brink of a global social, economic and energy crisis.

It should be noted, according to experts, today the Republic is desperately trying to “sit on two chairs”, being in a very disadvantageous position, choosing a further line of political behavior with great difficulty and fear.
